20 Apr Reframing our thoughts
Problems can make us feel stressed as we focus on them, but if we start reframing our thoughts, the problems can start to feel much smaller. I was reminded of this recently as I have been working on projects with celestial themes. In the process I came across a number of quotes about the stars that helped me realize how universal many if problems are, and how many wise people have already given us a clue for reframing our thoughts!
Here are some of the quotations that I found helpful:
Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Stephen Hawking
Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground. Theodore Roosevelt
It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves. William Shakespeare
Shoot for the moon and if you miss you will still be among the stars. Les Brown
I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars. Og Mandino
Yeah we all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun. John Lennon
We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle. Marilyn Monroe
We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. Oscar Wilde
Maybe that’s what life is… a wink of the eye and winking stars. Jack Kerouac
We are, each of us, a little universe. Neil deGrasse Tyson
Of all things visible, the highest is the heaven of the fixed stars. Nicolaus Copernicus
Reach for the stars. Christa McAuliffe
As I get older I am learning that more often than not, reframing thoughts is much quicker way of moving on than dwelling on them and digging myself in deeper. Give it a try!
